The highest international award dedicated to the most important living figures in the world of architecture has been awarded to a great British designer, David Chipperfield, winner of the Pritzker Prize 2023.

The prize was established in 1979 by the Chicago-based Pritzker family and is awarded annually through the Hyatt Foundation to the most eminent figures in the industry. It is synonymous with authority and prestige - it is often referred to as the 'Nobel Prize of architecture' and 'the profession's highest honour'.

Sir David Chipperfield founded the firm that still bears his name in London in 1985 (now also present in Berlin, Shanghai and Milan) and over the decades has been involved in some of the most important international architecture and design projects.

In recent years, his commitment has also focused on the Spanish region of Galicia, with which he has developed a deep connection, so much so that in 2017 he set up a non-profit foundation (Fundación RIA) to promote and finance ideas and projects for the protection and development of the natural environment along the coast of the Ría de Arousa.

In Italy, he has designed the Santa Giulia Arena in Milan, which will be built for the Italian Winter Olympics in 2026, and he supervised the redevelopment and restoration of the Procuratie Vecchie in St Mark's Square, Venice, which will become the carbon neutral headquarters of The Human Safety Net foundation.

He is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and has received countless international honours.

His next work is also the restoration of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, the very city where he will be awarded in May 2022.

David Chipperfield collaborated with Valli on the Fusital H 348 handle series that bears his name.

This line is characterised by elegant lines, a streamlined and essential shape with a straight profile softened by rounded edges and rounded surfaces.

A refined aesthetic, perfectly in line with the soul of its designer.
